Ukrainian military continue their offensive operations as the pro-Russian groups are organising their counter-offensive, with threats that soon a large scale attack will be launched. Once again, difficult to know whom to trust and which news agency/source/social media site will actually report on real situations. There have been, however, accounts from residents of Donetsk that new tanks are arriving into the city draped with 'New Russia' flags--red and blue diagonal cross.
Ukrainian flags are now flying in Donetsk, Slovyansk, Kramatorsk and other formerly 'rebel' strongholds. But an end to the violence does not seem to be in sight.
Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, promised today that Russia will use all forces and means against Ukraine if the latter decides to go to war for Crimea. This is in spite of the fact that all international organisations, including the UN General Assembly, PACE, OSCE, the U.S., the EU and Ukraine itself have deemed the occupation illegal and recognize Crimea as Ukrainian territory.
