As the ceasefire is officially over, at least nine civilians are reported dead in an attack on a village in the Luhansk region of eastern Ukraine. 'Rebel' 'pro-Russian' 'seperatist' groups blame the Ukrainian military for bombing in the village, meanwhile Ukrainian officials say their forces were not in the area, and they blame the rebels.

The foreign ministers of France, Germany, Russian and Ukraine met in Berlin, but there is no precise objective to the talks, so who knows what good they can do. it seems the diplomats are using the term 'peace efforts', but with little substance behind this.
Paul Globe on Russian Ukrainophobia, a particularly sinister xenophobia characterises Russia's relation with Ukraine:

Russian Ukrainophobia is based on a denial of unique achievements of Ukrainians in the past and of the possibility that Ukrainians on their own can achieve anything in the future.
