The barricades have been removed from the main street in Kyiv's Maidan, Hrushevskoho. There are ongoing discussions, disagreements as to what should be the future of Maidan. Demonstrators on the main downtown avenue of Ukraine's capital set piles of tires ablaze today to protest the authorities' call to end the encampment. Meanwhile, a few hundred meters from the blazing tires, workers in hard hats cleared debris from torn-down barricades.

Klitschko is calling for an end to the encampment, as he becomes the new mayor of Kyiv. In light of his new position, he has promised to give an oath before the people of Kyiv after the official announcement of his mayoral position.

More than 50 community organizations and initiatives have been called to participate in Maidan 'Ukraine Veche', which will be held tomorrow June 1, 2014 at 12:00. This is a meeting to discuss changes and the future Maidan. During the Chamber representatives of various public communities will discuss a common vision to re-format Maidan physically and as the polygon symbolising democracy and accountability in Ukraine.
Also, the community organisations and people have been invited to Kyiv to join the commemoration of those killed at Maidan: a 'heavenly road' with flowers, candles and art events in support of the current Ukrainian military.

In other news, the EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Stefan Fule, has expressed his support for Ukraine’s EU accession. This comes in response of the founding of the Eurasian Economic Union (Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan). The timing of EU's attention to Ukraine's potential future membership clearly demonstrates that the EU cares less about the people of Ukraine and more about their economic expansion and access to resources.
