150 thousand Russian troops on military alert along the border with Ukraine. Putin says in a news conference that Russia will not recognise the outcome of upcoming presidential elections in Ukraine if the current "terror" continues. He denies that new Russian troops were sent to Crimea. He also says that Yanukovich’s political career has ended, but stands by Russian ‘humanitarian intervention’ in Crimea. Meanwhile, Ukrainian warships in Sevastopol have draped the railings of the ships with mattresses, to slow down any Russian troops attempting to board. A standoff between soldiers in a Ukrainian airfield in Sevastopol; arguments ensue between generals, but injuries are avoided.
