Ukrainian government has appealed to Russia to block the financing of militants in eastern Ukraine by ex-president Viktor Yanukovych, but has not received an answer. Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Pavlo Klimkin said in an interview with the Austrian newspaper Die Presse today: 'We have a lot of evidence that the former president is supporting the terrorists. We’re also pressuring the Russian side to block these sources of funding.'
There is evidence, according to Klimkin, that aid to the pro-Russian rebels in the east has been increasing over the past several days: recruiting centres in Russia are continuing to function  and militants are receiving heavy military equipment. It is possible to simply phone a certain number to register as a volunteer to be sent to the east of Ukraine. 'This must stop. Otherwise we have no chance for de-escalation.'
Slovyansk, violence continues
Today, Poroshenko spoke at Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) saying: We are ready to call officially on the Russian representatives to get involved in monitoring the Ukraine border to ensure that the obligations that we have undertaken are strictly observed. The peace plan was supported by all major countries of the world and Ukraine is extremely grateful to them for that. At the same time, it is clear that the peace plan will work only if Russia plays along. Sadly, so far Moscow’s support has been insufficient. It is good news that the Russian Federation Council is not going to declare war on Ukraine, but, while Russia has not declared war, war is being waged at this very minute because it has not pulled back its mercenaries, so well equipped and highly motivated militants are coming in…I urge Russia once again to contribute to resolving the situation.
