According to the UN, at least 356 people have been killed in Eastern Ukraine since 7 May. This does not include the hundreds that are still missing and unaccounted for since February, in Ukraine and Crimea.

Higher casualties have been reported on both the government and separatist sides since the June 7th elections. This is because both sides have been using heavier weapons.

NATO is reporting renewed Russian military build-up at the Ukrainian border, while Russia continues to internationally criticise Ukrainian military attacks throughout Donetsk.

Poroshenko met with representatives of the governments (legitimate governments) of Donetsk and Luhansk today. Importantly, part of Poroshenko's 'Peace Plan' is that he, the President, is voluntarily giving up the power to appoint the heads of the oblast and district state administration. The change is that local elections are to be held, and the chosen members form the local council which then forms an executive committee. There is also a plan in discussion to renew the Donbas economy, a program to create new jobs in Eastern Ukraine, and a project for economical reconstruction of the region in collaboration with EU partners.

Poroshenko also noted that the Ukrainian side will temporarily cease fire in the east in order to give the members of illegal armed formations to disarm, and the Russian mercenaries to leave the country.
